About us

Who writes Laguna Basics, how it is paid for, and what we will not do.

Who runs this site

Laguna Basics is a small editorial desk writing about gold trading for readers in the Philippines. We publish calculators, price reference and plain-language guides — and we review the brokers a reader in the Philippines can actually open an account with.

We are not a broker, not a bank and not a licensed adviser. We do not hold client money, we do not place trades, and nothing here is a personal recommendation to buy or sell.

What we do not do

We do not publish invented author credentials, fake awards or stock-photo “experts”. Where a page is written by the desk rather than a named person, it says the desk.

We do not quote a XAU/USD price as a dealable price. The numbers in our tools are worked examples; your broker's own quote is the only one you can trade on.

How the site pays for itself

Some links to brokers are affiliate links: if you open an account through one, the broker may pay us. That is the whole of our revenue, and it is why the next section exists.

A broker paying us does not buy a rating, a ranking position or the removal of a problem. Where a broker is weak for a reader in this country, we say so on the same page that links to it.

FAQ

Common questions

Who actually runs Laguna Basics?

Laguna Basics is run by a small editorial desk of writers who follow gold (XAU/USD) from the Philippines. We are not a broker, a fund manager or a licensed adviser, and we do not hold client money. The desk writes the pages, checks the numbers, and keeps the calculators working.

How does Laguna Basics earn money if the content is free?

The site earns through advertising and affiliate arrangements with brokers we mention, including FxPro. When a reader opens an account through a link, we may receive a payment. That payment does not change what we write, and we do not accept payment to publish a favourable review or to hide a risk.

Is Laguna Basics connected to FxPro?

No. Laguna Basics is an independent desk and is not owned by FxPro. We write about FxPro because it serves Philippine readers through MT4, MT5, cTrader and the FxPro app, and because its regulator position is clear: FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC - not by the SEC of the Philippines.

Why does a Philippine desk write about gold instead of the PSE?

Gold is one of the few markets a Philippine reader can reach from a phone with GCash or a bank transfer, and it trades nearly around the clock. We cover XAU/USD because the maths is clean: one lot is 100 oz, one pip is 0.01, and a reference price near 4275.0 makes the position size and pip value calculators easy to check.

Does Laguna Basics give trading advice or signals?

No. We publish explanations, worked examples and calculators, not advice, signals or account management. Any decision to trade gold, and any choice of broker, funding method or leverage, stays with you. If you need personal advice, speak to someone licensed to give it in the Philippines.
